As the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium prepares for its April 4 major fundraiser – “The Tech Revolution: An Evening with Steve ‘Woz’ Wozniak,” event leadership and key donors were honored recently with a special reception held at the newly expanded Science Center venue.

Guests of all ages will fall in love with science at the third annual “Fall Family Fun Fest.” This event will take place on Sunday, Oct.13 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature many hands-on, science activities, including an interactive Mobile Learning Adventure (MLA) traveling exhibit for children birth to five-years-old, courtesy of the PNC Foundation and Grow Up Great, PNC’s bilingual, early childhood education initiative.

From sea floor to South Florida, artifacts of the Titanic to go on display. Everyday objects — perfume vials, a hat, a chandelier — spent decades under two miles of saltwater off the coast of Newfoundland until divers found them in 1985. Now these things crisscross the country, and starting Nov. 16 they'll be on display at the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium.

The South Florida Science Center and Aquarium will open an hour earlier on weekdays, effectively immediately. Hours now are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekends.

Hypothesis: If you put $5 million into the South Florida Science Museum and rebrand it as a learning center and aquarium, its draw will expand beyond local school children. The first test comes in early June, when the 50 percent space increase and such state-of-the-art exhibits as Science on a Sphere, a computer-generated 3D video storytelling center, reopen as the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium.

Arts Radio Network (ARN) and the South Florida Science Museum have partnered together to promote and support the upcoming museum expansion with a series of countdown segments, leading up to the opening and completion of the project. ARN’s mission complements that of the Museum’s which is to promote, educate and advocate for the arts and cultural community of Palm Beach County.

Even without the bubble helmets, they stood out. Five men with the “Right Stuff” were celebrated at the annual dinner dance of the South Florida Science Museum. ‘’Out of this World: An Evening Honoring America’s Space Pioneers’’ took place April 5 at The Breakers and featured a moderated program highlighting the achievements of Scott Carpenter, Robert Crippen, Charles Duke, Edgar Mitchell and David Scott.
