SCIENCE CENTER SETS OUT TO PROVE THAT SCIENCE IS SWEET
11th annual Science of Chocolate provides peek at the sweeter side of science
(WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.) Calling all cocoa aficionados… The South Florida Science Center and Aquarium is about to show its sweeter side at the 11th Annual Science of Chocolate event. From 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, guests will experience instant chemistry with a variety of interactive chocolate experiments.
“Science is truly all around us,” said Lew Crampton, Science Center CEO. “And what better way to involve kids in science exploration than to teach them about things they enjoy – like chocolate! But lets be honest, adults love chocolate – and science, too – so this is certainly an event the whole family can enjoy.It is one of our most fun and popular ways we live our mission to ‘open every mind to science.’”
Science of Chocolate special and sweet activities include liquid nitrogen chocolate ice cream demos, “Chocolate Dinosaur Dig,” M&M Mathematics, Make-N-Take Chocolate Play-doh, and more. Additionally, a variety of tasting stations, including Hoffman’s Chocolates’ famed chocolate fountain,will offer guests the opportunity tosample the cocoa creations, while learning the history, science and health benefits of one of the world’s oldest and beloved treats.
Science of Chocolate is free with paid Science Center admission. Admission to the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium during Dinosaurs Around the World is $16.95 for adults, $12.95 for children aged 3 to 12, $14.95 for seniors aged 60 and older. Science Center members and children under 3 are free. Planetarium shows are not included in general admission pricing. The Science Center is home to the only planetarium in Palm Beach County, which recently went through a major modern-day technology upgrade to feature the latest in quality advancements. The upgrade was courtesy of a $250,000 gift from the Marvin and Elsie Dekelboum Foundation.
Dinosaurs Around the World invites guests to travel back to an age when dinosaurs ruled the planet – no time machine required. In addition to the pack of more than a dozen animatronic dinosaurs that are on display like a prehistoric zoo, the exhibit also features a multi-layered narrative, fossils, authentic casts, cutting-edge research and immersive design elements. The resulting story is a clearly painted picture about the prehistoric planet and its early inhabitants.
